My First Attempt at Hexagons

Hi all....I'm here today with a layout I made recently using Studio Calico's May kit: 35 MM.

Hello My Name Is Lisa

With this kit was probably my favorite stamp ever, this great hexagon outline. I started with a piece of white cardstock and created a partial background using this stamp and the six primary and secondary colors, alternating them and going for a less than perfect grid.

I also used the great hexagon mistables from Studio Calico and created a design with those around my photo and placed some randomly inside the grid I created.

The letter stickers are the Color Magic stickers from Heidi Swapp. I ended up using some Copic markers to color them in and they didn't turn out quite like I had hoped. A little too streaky and hard to read.

Overall...I really love this layout. It's very different from my usual work and uses a lot of bright colors (not to mention that the subject matter ain't too shabby either!)

Supplies:  patterned paper - Heidi Swapp; stamp - Studio Calico; ink - Colorbox, Stampin' Up; clips - SMASH (K & Co); washi tape - Bazzill; letter stickers and die cut - Heidi Swapp; hexagon mistables - Studio Calico; markers - Copic

Here's my question for anyone that has used the SC mistables or the American Crafts mistable thickers or any other color alterable product...how do you completely cover them, while keeping them from getting so saturated that they fall apart when using a mist?  I ended up using stamp ink to cover the mistables I used here because my success rate with spraying them is zilch.  The pros always make them look so easy!

Thanks for looking!

Momenta Thank You Card

Hey kiddies!  I have a great Thank You card I made recently to share with you today.

Thanks

This is not the best photograph, because I actually made this card for my sister to give to my niece's teacher for Teacher Appreciation week.  It was already dark out and she needed it for the next day, so I had to create my own lighting.  I wanted to make sure I got a picture of it before it was gone!

I used all Momenta papers on this card and I absolutely love how it turned out. I've never liked a card I've made as much as I like this one!

The large flower was made using a Fiskars seal punch and I punched the butterflies with a Jenni Bowlin punch.  I added a smaller flower to center of the big one, and added some little gems to the butterflies for some visual interest.

Supplies:  patterned paper - Momenta (Super Paper Pad PA-1839, Chloe's Garden Pyramid Pad PA-2384); small flower - American Crafts; pearls - Doodlebug Designs; letter stickers - Dear Lizzy (American Crafts)

Thanks so much for reading!  I'll be back with a layout tomorrow!

It's Been Awhile....

Hey kiddies!  I have been both busy and in a creative slump lately, so just haven't posted.  I'm leaving in a couple of weeks for a 5 week stay with my girlfriend in Ireland, so won't be around all June and most of July.

Anyhoooo...thought I'd share this layout I recently crafted featuring the amazing 35mm May kit from Studio Calico.

Muckross House

Last summer, on my visit to Ireland, Lis and I stayed a night in Kilarney and drove the Ring of Kerry the next day. On our arrival, we visited Killarney National Park which was absolutely stunning. I'd love to go back there! Muckross House is a big attraction there. It's beautiful and has an incredible garden. We took lots of shots here, so the Heidi Swap mini book that came with the SC kit was just the thing to include as many photos as I could of this beautiful place.

Supplies:  patterned paper - Echo Park, Crate Paper; cardstock - American Crafts; mini book - Heidi Swap; embellishments - October Afternoon, Heidi Swap, Hello Forever, 7Gypsies, Jenni Bowlin, Crate Paper, Echo Park; letter stickers - American Crafts, October Afternoon, Basic Grey; stamps - Studio Calico, American Crafts;  other - ribbon, tape

Thanks so much for stopping by!
