Snack Break

Hey all! Happy Friday! I thought I'd round out the week of London layouts with another page I did featuring the fabulous Lisa! I actually did this one several months ago and just never got around to posting it.
In retrospect, I probably should have gone back and photographed this layout again, as my project photography skills were a bit lacking back when I took these pictures, but I hope you will forgive me this once!

It's a simple little page, but I really like how it turned out.

Snack Break

We were touring The Tower of London when these photos were taken. Neither of us anticipated the enormity of the place, so Lisa started getting a little famished and took a break to eat a snack. She's just too cute!

Supplies: patterned paper - October Afternoon, My Mind's Eye; tape - 7Gypsies; fabric tag - Ormolu; letter stickers - October Afternoon, American Crafts; other - cardstock

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Lisa Antics

For my returning readers:  I told you I take TONS of pictures and I tend to scrap them ALL!  So, today, another layout about the hostel Lisa and I stayed at in London!  lol

Lisa Antics: Up to Her Old Tricks

Lisa is so super silly and fun, which is just one of the many things I love about her. So, I thought I would document that using these photos of her hamming it up in our room.

I used more of the Amy Tan Sketchbook line for this layout, since the colors work so well with my photos here.

I used some of these really cool glitter brads from American Crafts to create sort of a confetti effect and threw in a lone "vintage" brad from The Rusty Pickle (I'm pretty sure they are no longer in business) that I had floating around in my stash.

Supplies: patterned paper - Amy Tangerine (American Crafts); washi tape - MT tapes, Bazzill, Amy Tangerine (American Crafts); button, cardstock - American Crafts; twine - Divine Twine; brads - American Crafts, The Rusty Pickle; letter stickers - October Afternoon, American Crafts

Thanks for stopping by today!

Foggy London Town

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by today.

I have another London layout for you today!

Foggy London Town

Is it conceited to say that this may well be my very favorite layout of ALL time? There's just something about the colors and the map graphic and all the elements and the way they come together that just makes me smile.

I loved using Studio Calico's new Abroad line for this layout and mixing it with some Crate Paper Storyteller.

The half circles above the title were handcut from a piece of the Studio Calico Paper. Then I inked the edges and used them to create this little border piece.

Supplies: patterned paper - Studio Calico, Crate Paper; stickers - Crate Paper; letter stickers - Studio Calico, American Crafts; flare & mini envelope - Studio Calico; washi tape - Cosmo Cricket, Bazzill; stamp - Pink Paislee; ink - Jenni Bowlin; journaling card - Lily Bee Designs

Thanks again for reading and commenting! You guys make my day!

How's everyone this fine Tuesday? Still sharing some of my London adventures this week!

Stairwell

It was kinda cool how the hostel we stayed out had the messages of encouragement painted on the walls in the emergency stairwell that led to street level. I had to take some pictures of them! They made me smile.

I'm totally digging Amy Tan's Sketchbook line. The colors really go nicely with all the lime colored accents our hostel used in their decor. And believe me - I took plenty of pictures just of our sleeping quarters!

Supplies: patterned paper, cardstock embellishments, fabric embellishments, letter stickers - Amy Tangerine (American Crafts); button - October Afternoon; twine - Jillibean Soup; spray ink - Studio Calico - Mister Huey's Estate Green; washi tape - Bazzill

Buckingham Palace...From a Great, Great Distance

Hi everybody!  Another London layout for your viewing pleasure today.  We were only in London for three days last year, so we didn't get to hit all the spots we'd hoped to, including the Palace!  We did however, get to see it through the rain from the top of the London Eye.

Buckingham Palace...From a Great, Great Distance

I had so much fun making this layout and using my Studio Calico stamps. I cut out several circles from another sheet of the same paper as my background. Next, I inked the edges in black, then used various colors and background stamp images before stamping the smaller images on top of that with black. Finally, I added the circles on top of some existing circles with pop up foam for a little bit of dimension.

Supplies: patterned paper & stamps - Studio Calico; stamp ink - Jenni Bowlin, Colorbox; letter stickers - American Crafts, October Afternoon

Snapshot

Hi all! Still plugging away at my various projects. Namely, my 2008 and 2011 WDW trip albums and my 2011 trip to Ireland and England with my sweet girlfriend. I'm also throwing some family event photos and pictures of my little musher niece into the mix as well.

I think I've mentioned before that I have this OCD type tendency to scrap EVERY picture I take. I've let go of that a smidge, but to me, there's almost always a story behind every photo I take.

Snapshot

Today, I thought I'd share a layout I did of Lisa and me in London last summer. This picture is just a silly little snapshot we took of ourselves when we first checked into our room at the hostel where we stayed. It's a little bit blury, but I think it says a lot about how happy we are when we are together and how we make the most of that time.

I used Lily Bee Designs' Handmade collection almost exclusively on this layout. I worked with the top half of my page, including some spray ink spatters and confetti at the bottom of the page.

Yar Matey!

I'm back today with another WDW layout!

A Pirate's Life For Me

This time I went with a kind of piratey theme, since the photographs involved...well...pirates! These are just some silly shots my sister and I took of each other with this pirate dude outside of the World of Disney at Downtown Disney Marketplace. The jailed pirate was located inside the store!

I did an obcene amount of layering on this page, but I'm pretty happy with the result!

Supplies: patterned paper - Crate Paper, Bella Boulevard, Jenni Bowlin, Lily Bee Design, My Mind's Eye, Cosmo Cricket; letter stickers - American Crafts, October Afternoon, Pebbles; brads - American Crafts, My Mind's Eye; washi tape - Bazzill, Amy Tangerine (American Crafts), hambly; kraft labels - Martha Stewart; sticky note labels - K & Co-Smash; chipboard - My Mind's Eye; tags - Jenni Bowlin, Ormolu; other - paper clip

As always, thanks for reading and for your kind comments!

Monday, April 16, 2012

Hey everyone! I've been working on a bunch of different projects and jumping around from year to year and event to event lately! So, I'm leaving my Disney trips behind for today and venturing over to Foggy London Town for a layout I made from our trip up the London Eye last summer.

For those of you unfamiliar with the London Eye...it's like a giant ferris wheel on the bank of the Thames River in...yes, London...and instead of sitting in a free-swinging seat, there are many different capsules which hold up to, I believe, 20 people at a time.

Now, I'm terrified of heights! Lisa is too, so I was super surprised at how gung-ho she was to try it out. The entire journey up and back down again takes 30 minutes. I was super scared and trying not to have a panic attack all the way up. By the time we reached the top and were on our way back down again I was feeling okay and actually headed over to the window to look out across the river at Parliament, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace. Lisa and I snapped this pictures of each other with the rainy London weather in the background.

The London Eye

I primarily used Echo Park's new Note to Self collection and incorporated some Studio Calico stamps into the mix.

I stamped the Instax-y looking stamp on patterned paper, cut it out and stamped the image again, this time cutting around the inner portion of the frame and adhering it to the middle of the original stamped image. I'm very pleased with the result.

For added interest, I stamped a camera image and trimmed around it and placed it inside one of the frames.

Supplies: patterned paper, stickers, and letter stickers - Echo Park; stamps - Studio Calico; washi tape - Cosmo Cricket; stamp ink -
Jenni Bowlin (Ranger); spray mist - Studio Calico

Hi all...I'm back today with another Walt Disney World layout!

Downtown Disney Snippets

These are just a few shots that we took at Downtown Disney on our big Horton Family Vacay back in 2008.

The flower-like embellies were made using two different punches - a large seal from Fiskars and the blue ribbon punch which is a Jenni Bowlin and Fiskars joint venture. :) I inked the edges to give them some extra definition.

Supplies: patterned paper - Cosmo Cricket, Jenni Bowlin, Authentique, My Mind's Eye; kraft tag - Martha Stewart; flag - October Afternoon; punches - Fiskars; glitter ribbon - American Crafts; letter stickers - American Crafts, October Afternoon; washi tape - Bazzill; other - ticket

Hey kids!

I've been so busy lately and just haven't had time to update the old blog, but I have another Disney layout to share with you today!

Top Ten @ Disney's Hollywood Studios

This may well be one of my favorite Disney layouts ever. I liked it so much, it's inspired me to create Top Tens lists for all the Disney parks on this particular trip in 2008 and again for my trip last year. And who knows, maybe I'll be doing even more Top Ten layouts later on!

I've also been trying to do more stamping on my layouts, as I've amassed a ridiculously huge collection of stamps over the years, so I used a couple of different stamps from My Mind's Eye as well as a Studio Calico background stamp behind my photo and paper layers.

Supplies: patterned paper - Lily Bee Designs, My Mind's Eye, October Afternoon, Echo Park, Crate Paper; letter stickers - Pebbles; stamps - My Mind's Eye, Studio Calico; washi tape - Amy Tangerine(American Crafts), Bazzill; embellishments & tin pin - October Afternoon

That Hat

Hey all! Happy Monday!

Today, I have another WDW layout to share with you:

That Hat

I had a bunch of photos of Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat at Disney Hollywood Studios from my family's 2008 trip to the World, so thought I'd put them together on a single layout.

Supplies: patterned paper - Lily Bee Designs, Crate Paper, Studio Calico, My Mind's Eye; stickers - Jenni Bowlin, October Afternoon, American Crafts; banner - Pretty Little Studio; washi tape - Bazzill; buttons - American Crafts, Jillibean Soup; brads - Crate Paper, Bo Bunny; twine - Jillibean Soup, Divine Twine

SKETCH ADVENTURE SATURDAY/SUNDAY - 7

Ah, the weekend is drawing to a close, but I (and Lisa...or Lisa and I to be grammatically correct) have another sketch to share with you today!

I had a ton of fun working with this one, as it allowed me to include bunches of photos all on one page!

50s Prime Time Cafe

This was my second visit to this restaurant at WDW and in fact, I had another post a few months back with a layout of my family and I at this same joint!

Lis and I always have a great time together, so despite a few minor setbacks (Lisa not having proper drinking identification, Lisa starving to death for lack of a meal, Lisa going on dessert overload, Lisa footing the ASTRONOMICAL bill for this meal, and so on....) we still managed to have a lot of fun!

I used mostly older papers from Lily Bee & October Afternoon, as well as a very new one from American Crafts and a fairly recent piece from Crate Paper. I really didn't use any embellishments, because the pictures and journaling did the work. Just some letter stickers, a couple of punches, and some homemade confetti! But I really love the results!

Supplies: patterned paper - October Afternoon, Lily Bee, American Crafts, Crate Paper; letter stickers - American Crafts, October Afternoon; punch - XCut; tab punch - Jenni Bowlin (Fiskars); other - staples

This is the week of WDW layouts, peeps! I have a few more coming up in the next few days, so please stay tuned! And another sketch for you on Saturday. And if you're really, really lucky..maybe there will even be some Easter layouts next weekend too! ;)

Thanks again so much for reading and commenting! You guys are awesome!
