I guess I'm on a Zoo Trip 2012 Kick right now, because it seems I've been scrapbooking only pictures from that little trip I took with Ellie last summer!

The Mini Horse Whisperer

Ellie really wanted to ride this little automated horse and carriage, but more than that, wanted to get to know the horsey.  It was a really sweet moment.  I used a bunch of the My Mind's Eye My Girl line here, as well as bits of a few other lines that I think work really well together - Echo Park's Sweet Girl, American Crafts Love You More, and a chipboard sticker from my favorite of Studio Calico's latest lines, Snippets.

I did quite a bit of misting on this layout and actually used a mask!  This is something I rarely do (the masking, not the misting), as I tend to be a very impatient and quick scrapbooker.

I used the wood veneer arrow to accent the "mini" I inserted into the title.

Supplies:  patterned paper - My Mind's Eye; letter stickers - American Crafts, Studio Calico; brad - My Mind's Eye; chipboard stickers - Echo Park, My Mind's Eye (button), Studio Calico; sticker - American Crafts; enamel dots - My Mind's Eye; mists & mask - Studico Calico; wood veneer - Freckled Fawn

Dear Lizzy

So last week I came to you with a layout featuring mostly Dear Lizzy's Lucky Charm line.  I seriously love this line.  I purchased most of it separately, but pieces of it keep popping up in various kits I've gotten.

You Make My Heart Sing

I'm not a feather person.  I received a pack of the Bella Blvd feathers in this month's Scrapbook Circle kit and decided I needed to try to use it. So, I layered it in behind some of the paper layers.

I've been using my sewing machine a lot more frequently late, particularly over alphas and titles

I love anything paper-clippy added into my page.  I just got these yo-yo flower paper clips and have almost gone through the entire package already.

Supplies:  patterned paper - American Crafts (Dear Lizzy), Crate Paper, My Mind's Eye; paper clip and die cut card - American Crafts; feather - Bella Blvd; other - buttons, wood veneer frames, twine

This Christmas...

As I prepared to write this blog post, I had that Stevie Wonder song "This Christmas" going through my head.  I'm not a huge fan of the song, as I prefer my Christmas music to be of the 1940s Bing Crosby/Frank Sinatra variety (nothing against you, Stevie, you're wonderful!), but it made me realize that this Christmas will be very different from last Christmas.

Last year, Lisa was here celebrating with us from Ireland.  This year we'll be apart again.  Last year was very hectic and full.  This year should be somewhat quieter and calmer.  Last year I spent wayyyyy too much money on gifts.  This year I've pledged to be much more conservative.   Last year, I dropped my point and shoot camera and it's never been the same.  This year I am awaiting the new Canon Rebel EOS T3 DSLR that I just ordered which should be here on Friday (whoop!).  And last year, I stressed entirely too much over this little project called "December Daily" which I was doing for the first time.  This year, I have a year of experience under my belt and a much better plan of attack.

I am happy to report that my base pages are all made, my cover is decorated and my title page is complete.  I will be using no more than one 4x6 photo per day.  On some occassions, that 4x6 might be two 2x3 photos.  I want to be more reflective in my journaling, while not putting tons of pressure on myself to be perfect.  So...without further ado, I give you the base pages of my 2012 December Daily!

I used a bunch of different paper and embellishment lines to complete these base pages.  The majority are from the Studio Calico kit, Studio Calico's Wonderland line, and Crate Paper's Sleigh Ride line.  You will also find some vintage KI Memories, Daisy D's and a couple of lines from last year:  October Afternoon's Holiday Style for example.  I have tons of pages premade in two sizes.  4x6 to fit the page protectors of my album and I don't have the exact measurement, but a larger size to fit over the chipboard inserts that came with the album.  I'm so excited and looking forward to December 1st!

Thanks again SO much for taking the time to stop by my little blog!  Have a great Saturday!

Momenta Monday

Well, I hate to toot my own horn, so to speak, but today is my 37th birthday and in honor of that I declare this "The Adventures of Me Official Birthday Week!"   As such, I will posting birthday related projects all week long!

Starting off with today's Momenta Monday project, featuring all Momenta paper goodness and a few other assorted embellies!

That Cake

So I have a favorite cake that comes from bakery in Fort Worth called The Swiss Pastry (okay, let me fact check that real quick....still checking....)  Correction:  Swiss Pastry Shop.  If you are ever in Fort Worth or a Fort Worthean who has never checked out this landmark, I urge you to make a stop.  They are famous for their Black Forest Cake, which really isn't anything like a traditional Black Forest Cake and I'm totally, TOTALLY okay with that.

And I say all that to say this...a layout honoring my favorite cake was bound to happen, as I really, really, REALLY like cake, particularly of the birthday persuasion.

I'm going through a machine stitching phase again, so lots of sewing on this page.  I used a zig zag stitch around most of the individual paper layers and left the ends of my thread intact for a kind of shabby chic look.

I'm normally not a fan of putting buttons on a layout without at least adding some sort of twine or thread, but I thought these fit and looked pretty cute as is.  I added some strips of washi tape at a couple of points on the layout to help ground the other elements.

I really like how the "Cake" epoxy sticker went so well with the foil corrugated red alphas here.

This journaling card from Cosmo Cricket really complimented the color scheme of the overall layout and gave me the perfect spot to add a few thoughts.

Some baker's twine tied at the bottom of the page finished the whole thing off.

I'm really pretty pleased with how this whole page came together and really enjoyed breaking into my Momenta supplies!

The Momenta D-Lite team now has a board on Pinterest, so please come check it out!
